Upcoming Move
Dunkirk NY – I know it’s always a pain in the neck when people move their blogs over to a new server, but that it what I am about to do. I first started this blog on Blogspot, but moved to a WordPress environment to gain more flexibility. But when I made that first WordPress move, the hosting service I had was very unsupportive of WordPress as a platform, and in addition to that, I was getting so much spam – 500 a day – that I was going crazy deleting it. The last straw there was when I could not get Akismet to work.
So I went to my current setup, which is a WordPress.com blog. You get a lot of the benefit of WordPress, but the restrictions in terms of media, embedded items, etc. is now becoming troublesome to me. Also, the themes in WordPress.com are very few compared to what you can have in WordPress.org.
I discovered the other day that my hosting service is undergoing a major upgrade, and they assure me that all the issues surrounding WordPress will be resolved with the upgrade. Right now I finally have Akisment working (an absolute essential), so I feel more secure in using a WordPress.org setup on my hosting service.
So on October 2 or thereabouts, I will be making the switch to the following URL:
http://wordpress.apoorplayer.net
For the month of October at the very least I will be duplicating posts on this site and the new site, but eventually I will move completely to the new server. More server and storage space, better email, better flexibility with media and the like make the move enticing. So please change your bookmarks to the above URL if you wish to continue reading what insignificant things I have to say from time to time. Thanks for your patience and understanding. -twl
